Proverbs 17

The crucible for silver and the furnace for gold but the LORD tests the heart.   v.3

The concept here in Proverbs 17.3 reminds me of what Peter wrote about trials for the believer:

In this you greatly rejoice, though now for a little while you may have had to suffer grief in all kinds of trials. these have come so that your faith—of greater worth than gold, which perishes even though refined by fire— may be proved genuine and may result in praise, glory and honor when Jesus Christ is revealed.   1 Peter 1.6-7

There really is but one way to get from 10K to 18K, to 24K.   Heat.   It’s true of silver, of gold, and also the heart of the believer in Christ Jesus.  How reassuring to know that the heart of a person has trusted Christ as Savior is deemed more valuable than gold!

I’m almost afraid to say this sometimes, but “Lord, when You determine my faith is ready to be refined to the next level, I trust You.  Go ahead and turn up the heat”.
