A Personal Checklist for 2010
Though written centuries ago, this brief personal checklist is going to be one of mine in 2010. It’s important to me to always be “qualified” to slip into God’s dwelling place this year to rest on life’s journey. I have several roles in life —husband, father, son, brother, teacher, pastor, worship leader, friend— each deserving my best again this year.
David’s checklist of a Psalm is going to be one of my checklists to make sure 2010 is a good year in every respect, a year that brings a smile to God’s face each time we review how things are going; or how things went.
I’m going to re-memorize this Psalm (shouldn’t take long), and place it where I see it often as a reminder.
A Psalm of David.
1 Lord, who may dwell in your sanctuary? Who may live on your holy hill? 2 He whose walk is blameless and who does what is righteous, who speaks the truth from his heart 3 and has no slander on his tongue, who does his neighbor no wrong and casts no slur on his fellowman, 4 who despises a vile man but honors those who fear the Lord, who keeps his oath even when it hurts, 5 who lends his money without usury and does not accept a bribe against the innocent. He who does these things will never be shaken.

Qualification Checklist:
Objectives: 1) Always be qualified to dwell in God’s sanctuary,
2) Live a life that stands firm, is unshakable.
- Blameless walk.
- Doing what is righteous.
- Speak the truth from my heart. (see 1 Cor 13.4-7)
- No slander. No bribes. None.
- Do right by my neighbor (see Lk 10.29 ff)
- Refuse to speak ill of a friend.
- Despise persistent sinners / honor faithful believers.
- Keep my promises, even when it hurts.
- Generous.

It’s one more device to help make 2010 a good year, and keep me on task. I really want to hear my Savior say “Well Done, Phil!” when I see Him face to face.
